Too Much Food!!

Too much food and it was all so good. You know you shouldn't go back for seconds but you do anyway vowing to go on a diet tomorrow. And I did. Go back for seconds and go on a diet "tomorrow" being today.

As we were leaving Tacoma Laura texted me and told me, "We are stranded!" I wondered what she wanted me to do about it since I was three hours away with my hands tied. Probably moral support, which I dutifully gave. Turns out Heidi had run over something trying to veer away from a truck that was coming straight at her barreling down the middle of the country road where the barn is. They made it to the barn but with two flat tires that could not be inflated. We do not have, nor does she have, CAA (AAA- to you in the US of A). They were stuck. LeAnne was in Richmond and was busy and couldn't get to them in a timely manner (read: Laura's time schedule) Thus, the unsisterly comment I received from LJ moments later. After many texts back and forth they finally figured it out on their own and LeAnne picked them up--on her time schedule. I'm hoping that texts to and from the US are as cheap as they said they would be. Otherwise we've got a big bill.

    I have nice memories of the day we went with you to the Tacoma meetings. Only once, but sweet as could be. Mom and I are genuinely tired this morning...all-day-meeting yesterday (saturday)and then a cuppa tea with John and Darlene after I drove Roger around looking @ Hemet homes to buy.

Yep, she passed. Heidi has her driver's licence. Now my days to chauffeur my girls to the barn are all but over. There may be times when I need to help out but they will be few and far between. It's already been a relief. Just this morning they were up, out and off to the barn with only a phone call to figure out which van to take. Next week should be easier since the plan is to import their already bought VW Rabbit. There's a progressive program here for getting your driver's licence. First, as in every other place, you have to pass a written test. That allows you to display a huge "L" on the back of your vehicle. A lot of kids have a word they use to say what it stands for but the DMV says it stands for "Learner". And for the next little while, is it two years? you practice driving. Is It Even Worth It? Hemlock Woes

I've been working on this tam all afternoon and am beginning to wonder if it's even worth it to continue. This project has been nothing but trouble from the start. Years ago I began this as an afghan but soon realized I had confused this yarn (one skein) with a very similar yarn that had five skeins. I found out that I could easily convert it into a tam and a free pattern was available on Raverlry! I worked on it for a while and after following the pattern realized it was going to be way too big. Off the needles it went! The tam sat in the ether for 13 years and I just re-discovered it today. Unfortunately, there was no record of needle size. Nor was there any indication of what row I was on. Also, it appears that the yarn is disintegrating! I unraveled it for a few rows to get rid of the funky and raveled yarn and then tried to figure out what round I was on. Alas! My New Favorite! Salted Caramel Mocha No Whip With Foam

I tried this drink at Starbucks and knew I could make it at home for much cheaper. Salted Caramel Mocha with ...celery salt? What??? We had milk. We had chocolate sauce. We had caramel syrup. I made some turbonado sugar/sea salt mix and put it in an empty Starbucks "Hawaiian Sugar Sea Salt" Shaker - or so I thought. It turns out I had grabbed a bottle of celery salt and mixed it with the salt and the sugar. It really doesn't taste that bad but I think I'll be a little more careful next time.
