Happy Thanksgiving!!

Bruce loves it that we get an extra holiday every year. One of the perks of marrying an American, I guess. You get to eat turkey twice! We're off to Tacoma today to join the "folks-with-no-family-to-eat-with".

It's just Bruce and me this time. Everyone else is working except Heidi who decided it would be a great day to spend with a horse! It's really not that bad-she does have an excuse. Mercy needs an antibiotic two times a day. And she can't miss. It's suppose to take care of an infection she's had for months. This super-duper drug should kill off the bug this time. If not...

Yep, she passed. Heidi has her driver's licence. Now my days to chauffeur my girls to the barn are all but over. There may be times when I need to help out but they will be few and far between. It's already been a relief. Just this morning they were up, out and off to the barn with only a phone call to figure out which van to take. Next week should be easier since the plan is to import their already bought VW Rabbit. There's a progressive program here for getting your driver's licence. First, as in every other place, you have to pass a written test. That allows you to display a huge "L" on the back of your vehicle. A lot of kids have a word they use to say what it stands for but the DMV says it stands for "Learner". And for the next little while, is it two years? you practice driving. Is It Even Worth It? Hemlock Woes

I've been working on this tam all afternoon and am beginning to wonder if it's even worth it to continue. This project has been nothing but trouble from the start. Years ago I began this as an afghan but soon realized I had confused this yarn (one skein) with a very similar yarn that had five skeins. I found out that I could easily convert it into a tam and a free pattern was available on Raverlry! I worked on it for a while and after following the pattern realized it was going to be way too big. Off the needles it went! The tam sat in the ether for 13 years and I just re-discovered it today. Unfortunately, there was no record of needle size. Nor was there any indication of what row I was on. Also, it appears that the yarn is disintegrating! I unraveled it for a few rows to get rid of the funky and raveled yarn and then tried to figure out what round I was on. Alas! My New Favorite! Salted Caramel Mocha No Whip With Foam

I tried this drink at Starbucks and knew I could make it at home for much cheaper. Salted Caramel Mocha with ...celery salt? What??? We had milk. We had chocolate sauce. We had caramel syrup. I made some turbonado sugar/sea salt mix and put it in an empty Starbucks "Hawaiian Sugar Sea Salt" Shaker - or so I thought. It turns out I had grabbed a bottle of celery salt and mixed it with the salt and the sugar. It really doesn't taste that bad but I think I'll be a little more careful next time.
