Pearls and Pearls

I'm a month behind on my posting for birthstone projects. I've down at the warehouse where we have had only one computer until recently. Yes, I managed to convince the boss that we needed another computer for the office. I don't want to make it a habit of using it for personal use, though. That is until it pays for itself! So the first five and a half hours of today I've been slaving away at the website. (You would think that I would be done with that by now...there's always something to fix.) I hesitated to start a new project just because June's birthstone is a pearl. But I did. In fact I started at least three new projects! The first is a wallaby for a new baby. Hopefully, I'll be able to finish it before the month is over. Caelen was born earlier this month. I actually got to meet him when he was two days old. We were attending a shower for Kate and her mom when-surprise, surprise - in walks Chris and her THREE boys!NO PICTURE TODAY!!!The second is a neck-down sweater. I had this yarn for some time and have had many different ideas for it. Since I've been itching to do and don't wear much jewelery, if any at all. But since we sell beads and gemstones I thought this would be a good time as any. And the third is really a "maybe" and will probably not get done. The magic raglan has been intriguing for a long time but I think I'll put it off for another month. The Unfinished Wallaby for Kate (Now finished and delivered). The color is really off on this one. It really is a very pretty heathery purple. I wouldn't mind a sweater for myself out of it!

Yep, she passed. Heidi has her driver's licence. Now my days to chauffeur my girls to the barn are all but over. There may be times when I need to help out but they will be few and far between. It's already been a relief. Just this morning they were up, out and off to the barn with only a phone call to figure out which van to take. Next week should be easier since the plan is to import their already bought VW Rabbit. There's a progressive program here for getting your driver's licence. First, as in every other place, you have to pass a written test. That allows you to display a huge "L" on the back of your vehicle. A lot of kids have a word they use to say what it stands for but the DMV says it stands for "Learner". And for the next little while, is it two years? you practice driving. Is It Even Worth It? Hemlock Woes

I've been working on this tam all afternoon and am beginning to wonder if it's even worth it to continue. This project has been nothing but trouble from the start. Years ago I began this as an afghan but soon realized I had confused this yarn (one skein) with a very similar yarn that had five skeins. I found out that I could easily convert it into a tam and a free pattern was available on Raverlry! I worked on it for a while and after following the pattern realized it was going to be way too big. Off the needles it went! The tam sat in the ether for 13 years and I just re-discovered it today. Unfortunately, there was no record of needle size. Nor was there any indication of what row I was on. Also, it appears that the yarn is disintegrating! I unraveled it for a few rows to get rid of the funky and raveled yarn and then tried to figure out what round I was on. Alas! My New Favorite! Salted Caramel Mocha No Whip With Foam

I tried this drink at Starbucks and knew I could make it at home for much cheaper. Salted Caramel Mocha with ...celery salt? What??? We had milk. We had chocolate sauce. We had caramel syrup. I made some turbonado sugar/sea salt mix and put it in an empty Starbucks "Hawaiian Sugar Sea Salt" Shaker - or so I thought. It turns out I had grabbed a bottle of celery salt and mixed it with the salt and the sugar. It really doesn't taste that bad but I think I'll be a little more careful next time.
